Fatal Accident on I-80 in Hercules Claims Life
In the early hours of September 7, 2024, a tragic accident occurred on Interstate 80 West near the Hercules offramp, resulting in a fatality. The incident was reported at approximately 2:39 AM, when emergency services were alerted to a vehicle fire with occupants trapped inside. Despite the swift response from fire and rescue teams, one individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident involved an unidentified vehicle with the license plate 9EFU413. Initial reports indicate that a fire started within the vehicle, complicating rescue efforts. The coroner was notified and arrived on the scene at 3:42 AM to handle the fatality. Additionally, tree branches were reported on the right-hand side of the road, which may have contributed to the incident.
Authorities have since cleared lanes #1 and #2, allowing traffic to resume. However, drivers are advised to exercise caution when traveling through the area. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.
