Head-On Collision on SR1 in Corte Madera Causes Major Traffic Disruption

Anderson Franco Law

A serious head-on collision occurred on State Route 1 at Dolan Avenue in Corte Madera on Monday, April 7, 2025, at approximately 5:13 PM. Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene following reports of the accident, which involved two vehicles and resulted in significant front-end damage to both.

The collision led to a complete blockage of the shoreline, causing major traffic disruptions in the area. Corte Madera Tow was called to assist with the removal of the vehicles, and the roadway was cleared by 6:08 PM. The California Highway Patrol and local emergency responders worked diligently to manage the scene and ensure the safety of all involved.

While the full extent of injuries sustained in the accident is not yet known, our thoughts are with those affected by this unfortunate incident. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and remain vigilant while traveling through the area, as traffic may still be recovering from the earlier disruption.

Potential Legal Considerations

When someone is hurt because another person wasn’t careful, it’s called negligence. In these cases, the person who got hurt might have the right to get help or money from the person who caused the accident. To prove negligence, the injured person must show that the other person had a duty to be careful, didn’t do their duty, and that this caused the injury. For example, drivers have a duty to follow traffic rules and drive safely. If they don’t, and someone gets hurt, the driver might be responsible.

Victims of accidents can also look into insurance claims to help cover costs. If the person who caused the accident has insurance, the victim can file a claim with that insurance company. This can help pay for things like medical bills or damage to property. It’s important for victims to report the accident to the insurance company as soon as possible and provide all the details they can. Sometimes, the insurance company might try to settle quickly, but victims should make sure they get a fair amount that covers all their needs.

In some cases, the victim’s own insurance might also help. For example, if the person who caused the accident doesn’t have enough insurance, the victim’s insurance might cover the rest. This is called underinsured motorist coverage. It’s a good idea for victims to talk to a lawyer or someone who knows about insurance to make sure they understand their rights and get the help they need.
