Major Traffic Collision on I-80 in Richmond Leaves Multiple Injured
A major traffic collision involving multiple vehicles occurred on westbound Interstate 80 near El Portal Drive in Richmond, California, on September 1, 2024, at approximately 2:43 PM. The incident, initially reported as a hit-and-run with injuries, was later updated to a major injury traffic collision by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The collision involved at least two vehicles, including a blue Yamaha motorcycle, and resulted in significant injuries. Emergency services, including fire and towing units, were promptly dispatched to the scene. The collision caused partial blockage of lanes 3 and 4, leading to traffic delays in the area. Additional vehicles were reported to be involved and were located half a mile up the road from the initial crash site.
