Multi-Vehicle Collision Causes Major Delays on SR-4 in Pittsburg

Anderson Franco Law

A significant traffic collision involving multiple vehicles occurred late Saturday night on eastbound State Route 4, just west of Railroad Avenue in Pittsburg, California. The incident was reported at approximately 11:18 PM on July 27, 2025, leading to the complete blockage of all lanes for several hours.

Emergency services, including the California Highway Patrol and local fire departments, responded promptly to the scene. Initial reports indicate that the collision involved at least three to four vehicles, with one vehicle reportedly overturning and another emitting smoke. Fortunately, no individuals were trapped in the vehicles, and there have been no immediate reports of serious injuries.

The crash resulted in significant traffic disruptions, with a Sig Alert issued to warn drivers of the delays. By midnight, lanes 1, 2, and 3 were reopened, while lane 4 remained closed as cleanup and investigation efforts continued. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and seek alternative routes if possible.

Our thoughts are with those affected by this incident, and we urge all drivers to remain vigilant and prioritize safety on the roads.

Potential Legal Considerations

When someone is hurt because another person was careless, it is called negligence. In legal terms, negligence means that someone did not act with the level of care that a reasonable person would have in the same situation. For example, if a driver is not paying attention and causes an accident, they might be considered negligent. The person who got hurt can then seek compensation for their injuries. This compensation can help cover things like medical bills and other costs related to the accident.

Victims of negligence have the right to file a personal injury claim. This is a legal process where the injured person asks for money to help with their recovery. The claim can be made against the person who was careless, or sometimes against their insurance company. Insurance companies often play a big role in these cases because they are the ones who usually pay the compensation. The insurance company will investigate the accident and decide how much money to offer the victim.

It’s important for victims to know that they might also have to deal with their own insurance company. If the person who caused the accident does not have enough insurance, the victim’s own insurance might help cover the costs. This is called underinsured motorist coverage. Victims should talk to a lawyer to understand their rights and make sure they get the compensation they deserve. A lawyer can help them navigate the legal system and deal with the insurance companies.
