Multi-Vehicle Collision Causes Major Traffic Disruption in San Jose

Anderson Franco Law

A significant traffic collision involving five vehicles occurred on the evening of July 31, 2025, on northbound State Route 85 near Blossom Hill Road in San Jose. The incident was reported at approximately 9:44 PM, leading to the closure of lanes 1 and 2, while lane 3 remained partially blocked. Emergency services, including the San Jose Fire Department and California Highway Patrol, responded promptly to the scene.

The collision resulted in major front-end damage to a red SUV and rear-end damage to a black SUV, among other vehicles involved. Tow services were requested to clear the damaged vehicles from the roadway. The incident caused significant traffic delays as authorities worked to manage the scene and ensure the safety of all involved. Fortunately, all parties were reported to be out of their vehicles, and no fatalities have been reported at this time.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution and seek alternate routes while traveling in the area, as traffic flow is expected to remain affected until the scene is fully cleared. Our thoughts are with those impacted by this unfortunate event, and we urge drivers to remain vigilant and prioritize safety on the roads.

Potential Legal Considerations

When someone is hurt because another person was careless, it is called negligence. In these cases, the person who got hurt might have the right to get help or money for what happened. To prove negligence, the injured person must show that the other person had a duty to be careful, did not act carefully, and that this caused the injury. For example, if someone is driving a car, they have a duty to follow traffic rules and drive safely. If they don’t, and someone gets hurt, the driver might be responsible.

Victims of negligence can often make claims to get money for their injuries. This money can help pay for things like medical bills and other costs that come from the accident. Sometimes, the person who caused the injury has insurance that can help cover these costs. For example, if the accident happened in a car, the driver’s car insurance might pay for the damages. It’s important for victims to report the accident to the insurance company and keep records of everything related to the accident.

Insurance claims can be complicated, and sometimes the insurance company might not want to pay what is fair. In these cases, the victim might need to get help from a lawyer. A lawyer can help make sure the victim gets the right amount of money to cover their costs. It’s important for victims to know their rights and to act quickly, as there are often time limits on when they can make a claim.
