Multi-Vehicle Collision on I-280 in San Francisco Leaves Several Injured

Anderson Franco Law

A serious traffic collision involving multiple vehicles occurred on Interstate 280 southbound near the San Jose Avenue on-ramp in San Francisco on the evening of April 30, 2025. The incident, which took place around 8:39 PM, involved a dark gray SUV that overturned and collided with several other vehicles. Emergency services, including fire and medical units, were promptly dispatched to the scene.

The collision resulted in significant traffic disruptions, with lanes 1 through 4 initially closed to facilitate emergency response efforts. A mother and her daughter, traveling in a black Tesla, were among those affected. The daughter reportedly suffered a head injury and was unable to feel one side of her body, highlighting the severity of the incident. Fortunately, by 10:09 PM, all lanes were reopened, and traffic flow was restored.

Authorities have advised motorists to exercise caution while traveling through the area, as debris from the collision was scattered across the roadway. The California Highway Patrol and other agencies worked diligently to clear the scene and ensure the safety of all involved. Our thoughts are with those injured in this unfortunate accident, and we wish them a swift recovery.

Potential Legal Considerations

When someone is hurt because another person was careless, it’s called negligence. In these cases, the person who got hurt might have the right to get help or money from the person who was careless. To show that someone was negligent, the injured person needs to prove a few things. First, they need to show that the other person had a duty to be careful. Then, they must show that the person did not act carefully. Finally, they need to prove that this lack of care caused their injuries.

If someone is hurt in an accident, they might be able to make a claim with the insurance company of the person who caused the accident. This is called an insurance claim. The insurance company might pay for things like medical bills or damage to a car. However, the insurance company will first look at the details of the accident to decide if they should pay. They will check if the person they insure was really at fault and if the injuries were caused by the accident.

Sometimes, the insurance company might not want to pay what the injured person thinks is fair. In these cases, the injured person might need to talk to a lawyer. A lawyer can help them understand their rights and might help them get more money from the insurance company. It’s important for people who are hurt to know that they have rights and that they can ask for help if they need it.
