Multi-Vehicle Collision on I-880 in San Leandro Causes Traffic Delays

A multi-vehicle collision occurred on southbound I-880 near the Davis Street on-ramp in San Leandro at approximately 4:38 PM on September 10, 2024. The incident involved three vehicles and resulted in minor to moderate injuries for three individuals. Emergency services, including the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and Oakland Fire Department, responded promptly to the scene.

The collision blocked multiple lanes, causing significant traffic delays during the evening rush hour. By 5:00 PM, the right lane remained obstructed, but efforts were made to move the vehicles to the right-hand shoulder to alleviate congestion. A tow service was notified and dispatched to clear the damaged vehicles from the roadway.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution when traveling through the area and to consider alternative routes if possible. The CHP and local authorities are working diligently to ensure the safety of all commuters and to restore normal traffic flow.
