Traffic Collision on US 101 Near Oyster Point Causes Lane Closures

Anderson Franco Law

A traffic collision involving two vehicles occurred on the southbound US 101 near the Oyster Point exit in South San Francisco on May 3, 2025, at approximately 4:17 PM. The incident involved a red Infiniti G37 and a white GMC SUV, both of which had their airbags deployed upon impact. Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene, and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that lanes were blocked as a result of the collision.

The crash led to significant traffic disruptions, with the #1 and #2 lanes being blocked for a period of time. Tow services were called to remove the vehicles, and the roadway was cleared by 5:31 PM. Fortunately, no severe injuries were reported, although the vehicles sustained major front-end damage. The presence of emergency personnel ensured that the situation was managed efficiently, minimizing further risk to other motorists.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution when traveling through the area, as traffic may still be recovering from the earlier congestion. The CHP reminds drivers to remain vigilant and adhere to posted speed limits to ensure safety on the roads. Our thoughts are with those involved in the accident, and we hope for their swift recovery.

Potential Legal Considerations

When someone is hurt because of another person’s carelessness, it is often called negligence. In legal terms, negligence happens when someone does not act with the level of care that a reasonable person would in the same situation. For example, if a driver is not paying attention and causes an accident, they might be considered negligent. The person who got hurt can then seek compensation for their injuries. This means they can ask for money to help cover things like medical bills and other costs related to the accident.

Victims of negligence have rights that protect them and allow them to seek justice. They can file a lawsuit against the person or company responsible for their injuries. In court, they would need to prove that the other party was negligent and that this negligence directly caused their injuries. If they are successful, the court may order the responsible party to pay for the victim’s damages. This can include not only medical expenses but also lost wages if the victim was unable to work because of the accident.

Insurance can play a big role in these situations. Many people have insurance policies that cover accidents, like car insurance or homeowner’s insurance. If the person who caused the accident has insurance, the victim can file a claim with the insurance company. The insurance company might then pay for the victim’s damages, up to the policy’s limits. This can make it easier for victims to get the money they need without having to go through a long court process.

In summary, victims of negligence have the right to seek compensation for their injuries. They can do this by filing a lawsuit or making an insurance claim. It’s important for victims to understand their rights and the options available to them so they can get the help they need to recover from the accident.
