Traffic Collision Sparks Brush Fire and Power Outage on Cabrillo Highway

A traffic collision early Tuesday morning on Cabrillo Highway in the vicinity of 10350 Sr1, San Mateo County, resulted in live wires coming down and igniting a brush fire. The incident, reported at approximately 5:56 AM, led to a power outage in the area, with residents reporting seeing flames. Emergency services, including fire and EMT units, were promptly dispatched to the scene.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) and San Mateo Sheriff’s Office (SMSO) confirmed that the northbound lane of Highway 1 has been closed to ensure public safety while Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) crews work to address the downed power lines. Fortunately, there were no immediate reports of injuries from the collision, and the fire department is actively working to contain the brush fire.

Residents are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes while the highway remains closed. PG&E is currently assessing the situation to restore power as quickly as possible.
