Two-Vehicle Collision Causes Fire and Traffic Delays on I-580 in San Leandro

A two-vehicle collision on eastbound I-580 near Grove Way in San Leandro early this morning resulted in one vehicle catching fire, causing significant traffic delays. The incident occurred at approximately 8:03 AM on September 9, 2024, and involved a beige Toyota and a black SUV, both of which sustained major damage.

Emergency responders, including the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and fire services, were promptly dispatched to the scene. Both drivers were able to exit their vehicles safely, and no serious injuries have been reported. The fire, which initially blocked one lane, was quickly extinguished, and all lanes were reopened by 8:48 AM.

Motorists experienced delays as the scene was cleared, and tow services were called to remove the damaged vehicles. Authorities advise drivers to remain cautious and alert while traveling through the area, as residual traffic may still be present.
