Two-Vehicle Collision on SR85 in Mountain View Causes Traffic Disruptions

Anderson Franco Law

A traffic collision involving two vehicles occurred on the southbound lanes of State Route 85 near the El Camino Real exit in Mountain View on June 17, 2025, at approximately 3:33 PM. The incident involved a black sedan, possibly a Nissan, and a black Tesla. Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene, and both vehicles were reported to be undrivable, causing significant traffic disruptions in the area.

The collision resulted in injuries, with one passenger in the non-Tesla vehicle experiencing a loss of consciousness. Medical personnel from Mountain View EMS were on-site to provide necessary assistance. A tow service was also requested to remove the damaged vehicles from the roadway. The Freeway Service Patrol (FSP) has since closed their incident response, and traffic flow is gradually returning to normal.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution while traveling through the area and to remain vigilant for any residual delays. Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision to prevent similar incidents in the future. Our thoughts are with those affected by this unfortunate event, and we hope for a swift recovery for the injured parties.

Potential Legal Considerations

When someone is hurt because another person was careless, it is called negligence. In these cases, the person who got hurt might have the right to get help or money for what happened. To show that someone was negligent, the injured person needs to prove a few things. First, they must show that the other person had a duty to be careful. For example, drivers have a duty to follow traffic rules and drive safely. Next, they must show that the person did not do their duty. This could mean they were speeding or not paying attention. Finally, they need to show that this lack of care caused the injury.

Victims of negligence can often make claims to get money for their troubles. This money can help pay for things like medical bills or time missed from work. Sometimes, the person who caused the injury has insurance that can help cover these costs. For example, if the injury happened in a car accident, the driver’s car insurance might pay for the damages. It’s important for victims to report the incident to the insurance company as soon as possible. This helps start the process of getting the help they need.

Insurance claims can be a bit tricky, so it might be helpful for victims to talk to a lawyer. A lawyer can help explain the victim’s rights and make sure they get a fair deal. They can also help gather evidence to show that the other person was at fault. This might include things like pictures from the scene or statements from witnesses. With the right help, victims can make sure they are treated fairly and get the support they need to recover.
